Abiodun Tasks Couples On Seeking Common Ground On Issues

The Ogun State governor, Dapo Abiodun, has admonished couples to always find a common ground once they understand that their opinions differ.

Abiodun who stated this during the thanksgiving service of Anu and Dami Ogunbiyi, children to the Chairman, Governing Council of the Gateway Polytechnic, Saapade, held at the Holy Trinity Anglican Church, Ipara-Remo, added that the couple must always find how to agree in prayers whenever they hold divergent opinions.

“For the amount of investment that your parents have made on you, sent you to the best schools in the world, giving you all the exposure that they didn’t have, the likelihood that you will agree all the time is very slim and the reason is very simple because both of you are thinking.

“You are expected that when at times, your opinion differs, you find common ground once you understand that you are not having differences because you are not smart, but because you are actually smart, you are intelligent, you have different views and opinions.

“We appreciate that you may not agree all the time, but you must always find how to agree in prayers, it is very important. Whatever issue or challenges may be in front of you, you need to come together and hold each other in prayer,” he said.

Governor Abiodun while describing marriage as a foundation of a family unit and the core of a virtuous family from which a family is established, said that marriage is meant to be the official channel of procreation and the establishment of society.

In his sermon, the Diocesan Bishop of Remo, The Most Revd. (Dr.) Olusina Fape charged the couple to always work, think and decide things together, charging them to hold unto God at all times.

Fape, while noting that the couple are from two different families with different ideologies and practice, he charged them to learn to love and forgive.
