Noimot Salako-Oyedele Set To Join Ogun 2027 Race

... Why Supporters Want Her To Become 1st Female Elected Governor!

Race for the 2027 Governorship Election in Ogun State appears to have begun underground, even when the incumbent Governor Dapo Abiodun, who was elected for second term of office last month, is yet to be sworn-in for the term.

However, this did not come as a surprise to observers of events, as they said that the permutations is a form of early preparation so that the gladiators can know how they stand.

We were informed that one of those jostling to take over from Governor Abiodun under the All Progressives Congress (APC) is the incumbent Deputy Governor of the state, Engineer (Mrs) Noimot Salako-Oyedele.

Salako-Oyedele, who hails from Ota in Ado-Odo/ Ota of Ogun West, is believed to be the best candidate for the office based on her pedigree and family background.

Sources stated that the Salako Family is noted in Ado-Odo/Ota area of the state as a family with much influence, and who have achieved much politically in the area.

According to them, it is the turn of the Aworis to produce the next Governor of the state as the votes from Ado-Odo/Ota Local Government is always the highest in the state compared to the votes from Egbland and Ijebu.

They said that about about 300,000 voters are registered in the area alone, adding that the votes from other areas are just a little fraction of the entire votes in the state.

“The votes for the Governor in the entire state is not more than 300,000, and only a little come from Egba and Ijebu. So, what the APC gets from the area is as good as the winning votes of the Governor, so what remains.

“Noimot Salako-Oyedele has been doing very well. She is accommodating and she does not have enemy. Her family is influential in Ota, where she hails from.

“The Deputy Governor has done well for the state. You can see the way she has been supporting Governor Dapo Abiodun since they got to office on May 29, 2019.

“She is responsible, hardworking, reliable and committed. We cannot quantify what she has done for Ogun State over the years,” a source said.

It was added that Mrs. Noimot Salako-Oyedele has paid her dues and that it is time for the nation to have a female Governor.

A source revealed that Eng. Noimot Salako-Oyedele has helped so many people in the area and in the state, adding that this is payback time for her.

Those close to the Deputy Governor revealed that she will not derail from the plans of the present Governor of the state and that as someone that is working closely with the Governor, she would do all within her power to improve on whatever they are able to achieve in eight years.

The sources said that her watchword is for people to do the best within their power for humanity.

According to them, Ogun State should not allow those who only relocate to the state for election purposes to come and take over the leadership of the Gateway State.

“The call from many quarters is that Noimot Salako-Oyedele should be allowed to occupy the seat of the number one citizen of Ogun State in 2027.

“This is a woman that has dedicated her life to serving humanity. You can hardly hear her having issues with the Governor or any Commissioner. She believes in service and that is what she has been doing.

“Her contributions to the progress made by the current administration in Ogun State is enormous and she has never relented in carrying out her duties as the Deputy Governor of Ogun State.

“The votes from Ota in the last election is due to her influence and that of her family in the area, no wonder people ensured that they gave the APC all the supports the party needed,” said a source.

The source added that the Deputy Governor is up to the task of ruling the Gateway State based on her experience as an engineer and a politician.

The profile of Noimot Salako-Oyedele has also placed her above some others that might show interest in the coveted office.

Noimot Salako-Oyedele was born on January 8, 1966 to the family of the late Professor Lateef Akinola Salako and Mrs Rahmat Adebisi Salako.

Salako-Oyedele hails from Aworiland, Ota, in Ado-Odo/Ota Local Government Area of Ogun State.

Her father was a Nigerian academic who was professor emeritus of pharmacology and therapeutics at the University of Ibadan.

She is a politician, public health engineer and real estate professional.

The Deputy Governor emerged as the Deputy Governor of Ogun State after winning the 2019 Ogun State gubernatorial election alongside Dapo Abiodun, under the platform of the All Progressive Congress.

Salako-Oyedele started her career at the United Kingdom, where she served as a Graduate Engineer and Project Manager at Ove Arup & Partners between 1989 and 1995.
