Gbenga Daniel, Gov Dapo Abiodun On War Path Over Ogun East Senatorial Ticket!

…. Why Dapo Abiodun Is Promoting SSG, Tokunbo Talabi Against Daniel
Race for 2023 general elections is currently tearing the duo of former governor Gbenga Daniel of Ogun State and incumbent Governor Dapo Abiodun of the state apart and they are both said to be on war path.
Sources revealed that the two gladiators are not in agreement over who should be the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for Ogun East Senatorial seat, currently being occupied by Senator Lekan Mustapha.
It was reliably gathered that one of the reasons Daniel, fondly called OGD, actually left the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the APC was the need to realise his dream of
going to the senate in 2023 from Ogun East Senatorial district.
But it appears Abiodun is supporting his Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Mr. Tokunbo Talabi for the office.
Currently, the PDP in Ogun State is being controlled by Hon. Ladi Adebutu, a former factional governorship candidate of the party, whose faction is recognized by the national chapter of the party.
On his part, OGD belonged to the faction of the late Senator Kashamu Buruji, which is only legally recognised but is not acceptable to the national arm of the party.
Mr Tokunbo Talabi

It will be recalled that OGD and his ‘boys’ worked for the success of Governor Dapo Abiodun in the 2019 elections, but it appears the ‘OGD boys’ have since been hijacked by Abiodun, who we gathered would rather support Tokunbo Talabi for the Ogun East Senatorial seat in 2023 rather than supporting OGD.

However, OGD also has his successor, former governor Ibikunle Amosun to contend with as the latter controls Ogun Central and is enjoying the support of the national chapter of the APC as a serving senator that is also close to Aso Rock.
Senator Lekan Mustapha

The incumbent Senator Lekan Mustapha, representing Ogun East and Senator Tolu Odebiyi, representing Ogun West are both said to be Amosun boys and the trio are working together against both Dapo Abiodun and OGD.

To further show his influence in the state, Amosun’s faction of the APC conducted parallel ward and local government congresses of the party in the state and his faction was also given recognition by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC)  and this has reportedly emboldened Amosun to go ‘for the kill’ in 2023.
Investigations revealed that rather than supporting OGD for the Ogun East Senatorial seat in 2023,  a confused Gov Abiodun feels more comfortable with his SSG, Tokunbo Talabi, an equally Ijebu man who we were told he is financially empowering through handling of some key projects and contracts in his government.
But observers say Tokunbo Talabi, a greenhorn in the political arena of the Senatorial District is very unpopular.
“Dapo Abiodun feels threatened by OGD and he believes that it is better not to give him too much ground to operate in the state.
“So, he is doing everything possible not to allow him get to such a coveted office as the senate and he has been able to snatch all his boys shortly after he got to office.
“The situation of things now is that OGD is being blocked left and right by both Amosun and Abiodun as the general elections draw nearer,” said a source, who pleased anonymity.
