My Leadership Will No Longer Tolerate Assault, Threats On our Health Care Team- FMC Acting MD

The acting Managing Director of the Federal Medical Centre (FMC) Idi Aba Abeokuta Dr. Fidelis Ojeblenu has said that he will not tolerate or condone threats and breaches of the safety and security of lives and properties of the healthcare team.

The Managing Director disclosed this during a press conference held at Federal Medical Centre Idi- Aba Abeokuta the state Capital. Where he Maintained the relevance of the hospital in the state.

He stressed that the services and conduct of the team are guided by professional regulation and standard including professional competencies, practice standards, and scopes of practice.

He explained that patients and their relatives are distressed and burdened as they seek care adding that they strive to put smiles in their stressed faces.

His words “These we do through our Professional teams tapping into the pools of knowledge and skills, complemented by cooperation from patient and their relatives.

” We render these services day and night undertaking sacrifices driven by passion irrespective of gender, age , socio economic status , tribe or region.

He noted that rather than commendation, the management recive condemnation in place of rewards .

“Their motivating prayers are replaced with discouraging distractions. This is typically what has played out in the recurrent incidents of physical and verbal assault on our healthcare workers.

“The management of the hospital condemn the acts of assault and outright destruction of the hospital properties adding that culprits will face the consequences of their actions no matter who they are”.he claimed

Dr Fidelis expressed his heartfelt to the healthcare workers who are victims of the recent incident.

“We call on the lager community, traditional rulers and leaders to join hands in curtailing this dastardly acts, as we remain committed to caring for the health of the community”he submitted.

However, he added that Committee have been set up to look into the matter as one culprit was apprenhed on July 6 2021.
