With the upcoming political cycle in Nigeria in 2027, focus has shifted to the Ogun State governorship election, where it’s believed to be Ogun West’s turn to produce the next governor.
Historically, Ogun Central and Ogun East have held sway since the state’s inception.
Now, Ogun West aims to take the center stage, with Senator Solomon Adeola Olamilekan, popularly known as Yayi, emerging as a prominent choice. Yayi, with a rich political background spanning various legislative chambers, brings experience and a commitment to public service.

Yayi is a chip of the old block, a man with much political experience, who began his foray in public service as a lawmaker representing Alimosho Constituency 1 in the Lagos State House of Assembly from 2003 to 2011, when he moved to the House of Representatives from the same Alimosho Constituency.
He later moved to the Senate and represented Lagos West in 2015 and 2019, and he is currently representing Ogun West at the red chamber.
