Waliu Taiwo Extends Congratulations to Dapo Abiodun Following Victory at Governorship Election Petition Tribunal
Hon. Waliu Taiwo, Chairman of the Ogun State House of Assembly Service Commission, has conveyed warm congratulations to Governor Dapo Abiodun for his triumph at the State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal on Saturday, September 30, 2023.
The tribunal affirmed the election of Dapo Abiodun as the governor-elect of Ogun State under the All Progressives Congress (APC) while dismissing the petition from Hon. Ladi Adebutu of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), who contested Abiodun’s victory.
In a statement from his media office, Hon. Taiwo expressed that the victory underscores Governor Dapo Abiodun as the choice of the people in the state.
The former commissioner for works emphasized that the March 18, 2023, governorship election, securing Governor Dapo Abiodun’s second term, was not only conducted fairly but also credibly, signifying the governor’s popularity among the people.
He urged opposition parties to collaborate with the Governor, emphasizing that rather than engaging in legal battles, collective efforts should be directed towards the state’s progress until 2027.
“The people of Ogun State have spoken. Governor Dapo Abiodun endeared himself to the hearts of the people from 2019 to 2023 through outstanding performances, earning him their votes for a second term.
“We are confident that the election that brought Governor Abiodun into office was free and fair, as the people willingly granted him the mandate for another four years.
“I urge my colleagues in the opposition, especially the PDP, to unite with the Governor to propel the state forward rather than causing distractions during this critical time in our nation and state,” he emphasized.
While acknowledging the prevailing economic challenges in the country, Hon. Taiwo urged the residents of Ogun State to view it as a shared sacrifice for the nation’s journey to the Promised Land.
He assured that Governor Abiodun is well-equipped to ensure the state receives exemplary governance in the coming years, despite the national issues impacting the region.
