For the senator representing Ogun West Senatorial District, Senator Tolu Odebiyi, it is time for the chicken to go home to roost as the clock ticks for the 2023 general elections.
Recent information at our disposal revealed that it is end of the road for Odebiyi, who is said to be preparing to seek re-election in 2023, as the powers that be in the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) have anointed another top politician to replace him at the red chamber in 2023.
Those privy to the latest development revealed to us authoritatively that Senator Solomon Adeola Olamilekan aka Yayi that is currently representing Lagos West Senatorial District has been given the green light to contest from Ogun West in 2023.
We were informed that the National Leader of the APC, currently in the United Kingdom for medical care, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu has finally consented to the ambition of Yayi to go to the Senate from his home state as an indigene of Yewa area of Ogun State.
It will be recalled that Yayi went to the Lagos State House of Assembly from Alimosho Constituency 1 for two consecutive terms from 2003 to 2011 before he moved to the Federal House of Representatives in 2011 and later to the Senate in 2015 and 2019.
Now, Yayi that is said to be a close ally of Governor Dapo Abiodun of Ogun State, is set to battle Tolu Odebiyi in 2023.
“It is not a rumour any more, Yayi is going to the Senate from Ogun West Senatorial District in 2023 and he will definitely displace Senator Tolu Odebiyi.
“Yayi is a man of the people, whose records are there for everybody to see. He is a wave making senator with many achievements over the years as a representative of the people.
“He understands the game and he has been connecting with the people unlike Tolu Odebiyi, who has not done much for his people.
“Odebiyi has not been connecting with the masses and it is obvious that it is time for him to leave the stage and give another person an opportunity to represent the people of Ogun West Senatorial District,” said a source in Yewa area of Ogun State.
Sources revealed that Yayi has started seeking the support of the leaders in the Senatorial District and that he has promised to put the area in the limelight as he is doing for Lagos West at the Senate.
We gathered that in return, the people of the area have promised to work with Yayi and ensure his success at the primaries and general elections and “put an end to the era of a clueless representative like Tolu Odebiyi, who has not done anything for his people since he got to the red chamber over two years ago.”
