March 18 Guber Election: Why Dapo Abiodun Will Crush Amosun, Ladi Adebutu & Otegbeye!

Since he took over as the Governor of Ogun State in 2019, Prince Dapo Abiodun has proven cynics wrong as he has kept moving from one developmental project to another.

Abiodun hit the ground running and touched all the nooks and crannies of the Gateway State with his people-oriented programmes that have since changed the lives of the people.

The monumental projects, which are too numerous to mention, cut across road construction, healthcare, education, youth development/empowerment and agriculture.

Others include regular payment of salaries of civil servants, including those of teachers in primary, secondary and tertiary institutions as well as gratuities and pensions, sports, rural development, women empowerment and several others.

His handling of COVID-19 Pandemic, despite the fact that the index case was reported in the state, is nostalgic and the Governor was able to ensure that the EndSars crisis did not spread to the state.

No wonder the discerning minds and majority of the residents of the state are warming up to vote for Governor Dapo Abiodun under the All Progressives Congress (APC) and indeed all the candidates of the state house of assembly under the party in the March 18, 2023 general elections.

The people are said to be ready to vote for the APC enmasse just like they did in the February 25 Presidential and National Assembly Elections, where the APC carried the day.

Investigations revealed that Governor Dapo Abiodun is poised to crush the candidates of both the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the African Democratic Congress (ADC) at the polls.

While Hon. Ladi Adebutu is the Governorship candidate of the PDP, Mr. Biyi Otegbeye is the candidate of the ADC.

Former governor Ibikunle Amosun of the state, who is reportedly backing Otegbeye, is said to be holding meetings with different groups of people in the state that Dapo Abiodun must go.

Those concerned have however, expressed surprise over this as they wonder why Amosun, a serving Senator representing Ogun Central under the APC, would be supporting the candidate of another political party in such a crucial election.

Amosun is said to in the forefront of Biyi Otegbeye’s campaign, and it is certain that a vote for ADC is a vote for Amosun.

Some of the residents of the state, who spoke during interviews, said that this will not stop them from voting for Dapo Abiodun, who they said has proven to be a man of the people over the years, while revealing that they didn’t want to have anything to do with Amosun again.

Speaking further about Amosun, a source, who gave his name as Mr. Olusegun Lawal, said that Amosun should forget about becoming a godfather to the governor of the state.

Lawal recalled that Amosun did not leave a lasting legacy as governor, which he said was why the candidate he presented to succeed him failed woefully at the polls.

“Amosun years should not be repeated in Ogun State. He is not a good leader. Look at the way he tried to be succeeded by someone from another party in 2019 and yet contested election into the senate under the APC and won.

“No wonder he didn’t even plan to re-contest in 2023 because he knew that he would fail woefully,” he said.

Also speaking, Mrs. Oluyemisi Jaiyeoba, a resident of Abeokuta, the state capital, said that Amosun should be suspended as a member of the APC for anti-party.

Jaiyeoba stated that Amosun’s kind of politics is unique and that he is a spent force, whose support she said could never earn anyone the votes of the people, adding that Amosun and Otegbeye would be disgraced on March 18.

When asked to speak about the PDP, many residents of the state said that the party is unserious, adding that it is a divided house and a party that has nothing to offer, which they said was why its candidate was rejected at the polls at the federal level on February 25.

A cross section of the residents of the state said that Nigerians are not deceived by the antics of the PDP, which they said did not have a credible or formidable candidate for the seat of the Ogun State Governor.

It was gathered that Dapo Abiodun’s developmental stride is speaking for him and that his popularity in the state is increasing by the day “as the best Governor Ogun State since the new politic dispensation began in 1999.”

Abiodun is said to be enjoying the supports of the chieftains of the party in the state including those of the Senator-elect of Ogun East, Otunba Gbenga Daniel (OGD), Senator Solomon Adeola Olamilekan aka Yayi, who has been elected to represent Ogun West and Senator-elect of Ogun Central, Shuaib Salisu.

The three of them were said to be working assiduously in their senatorial districts to ensure success for Prince Dapo Abiodun at the polls.

It was revealed that many traditional rulers, opinion leaders, religious groups, youths groups, women groups, professionals, artisans, traders and transporters have declared support for Prince Dapo Abiodun so that “he can continue the good works he started in Ogun State in 2019.”
