APC Commends Senator Yayi, Asks Hon Adekunle Adekunle To Walk His Talk

Our attention has been drawn to a statement by one “media aide” of the former governorship candidate of Allied Peoples Movement (APM) in Ogun State, Hon. Adekunle Akinlade, to the effect that APM has ceased to exist in Ogun State.

We took the statement, if genuinely made, as an indication that, for Hon. Akinlade, his sponsor and co-travellers, the chicken has finally come home to roost. We therefore urge him to fully walk his talk, along with his band of supporters, to sincerely return to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

“He who comes to equity must come with clean hands,” is a popular saying. Therefore, Hon. Akinlade has no moral standing to condemn those former leaders of APM who have chosen to come back fully into the mainstream APC; having been tired of propaganda, fake promises and empty boasts by the serial petitioners and their leader.

According to Section 40 of the 1999 Constitution (as amended), “everyone shall be entitled to assemble freely and associate with other persons, and in particular, he may form or belong to any political party, trade union or any association for the protection of his interests.”

Hon. Akinlade is hereby admonished to rather play the type of politics that is decent and could be recommended.

After his serial losses at the Ogun State Governorship Election Tribunal, the Appeal Court and the Supreme Court, Hon. Akinlade is yet to congratulate the winner of the March 9, 2019 Governorship Election, Prince Dapo Abiodun, who is of APC that Akinlade is now claiming to have returned to. Hon. Akinlade holds the unenviable record of being the only defeated governorship candidate who is yet to congratulate Prince Dapo Abiodun, about three years after!

Similarly, despite fruitless efforts to seize the party structure in Ogun State via illegal “Congresses” and series of petty petitions, Akinlade, his sponsor and cohorts are yet to congratulate Chief Yemi Sanusi who has been confirmed and inaugurated by the party at the national level as the Chairman of APC in Ogun State.

This set of serial complainants should stop dropping the name of President Muhammadu Buhari. We all know that President Buhari does not support party indiscipline and disloyalty. That’s why the sponsor of APM was suspended after his followers threw dangerous objects at the President and other dignitaries during the presidential rally held on February 11, 2019 at the MKO Abiola Stadium, Abeokuta.

The claim that the party at the national level is aware of the return of these decampees to APC is not only ridiculous but also, entirely laughable. Someone who previously occupied a seat in the House of Representatives should be knowledgeable enough to know that every politics is local. Even President Buhari goes to Daura, his home town, to vote and Vice President Yemi Osinbajo came back to his ward in Ikenne Ward 8 to register as party member.

Rather than use gutter words against Senator Olamilekan Adeola, for setting free the former captives of these habitual petitioners, the distinguished Senator should be commended and he stands commended. We urge him to redouble his efforts in making all those that have been deceived by Hon. Akinlade, to know the truth and set them free.

On behalf of our party Chairman, leaders, members and genuine stakeholders, we commend Senator Yayi and urge him not to relent. Like the APC Chairman in Ogun State, Yemi Sanusi, has always said, “our doors and windows are wide open for all.”
