ASELGON, IIPL To Train 500 Artisans In 36 States Of Nigeria

The Association of Ex-Local Government Chairmen of Nigeria (ASELGON), in conjunction with the Institute of International Peace Leaders (IIPL), an international organization consisting of 180 countries, have signed an agreement to train 500 artisans in each state of the federation.

The training will focus on shoe making, furniture making, block making, fashion designing and welding.

At the end of the training, each participant will receive modern equipments from China to expose them to new technology and drive them away from old practice.

Apart from the training of artisans, 200 people, sponsored by Sterling Bank, will be trained in the area of mobile banking in each of the state with concentration on how to open an account, production of ATM cards and free POS machines in the rural areas.

The Memorandum of Agreement signed on behalf of ASELGON, Hon Albert Asipa and His Excellency, Ambassador, Kingsley Obasohan on behalf of IIPL, indicated that former local government chairmen are to benefit in exchange programmes and capacity building in 180 countries.

According to the agreement, genuine farmers will receive between N250,00 and N25m in order to assist the Federal Government on food production.

In order to kick start the implementations, ASELGON will constitute five Co-ordinators in the 36 states of the federation, while the inauguration of the Co-ordinators comes up on June 7, 2024 in Abuja.
