Governor Prince Dapo Abiodun of Ogun State reiterated his administration’s resolute commitment to advancing infrastructural development during the commissioning of the first phase of the Siun-Owode-Ofada road. The event showcased a pivotal step towards economic growth and enhanced connectivity within the state.

Speaking at the inauguration ceremony, Governor Abiodun emphasized the crucial role of road construction in catalyzing economic prosperity and improving accessibility for communities. The newly opened Siun-Owode road section not only offers an alternative route to ease congestion on the bustling Lagos-Ibadan Expressway but also promises positive socio-economic impacts for the region

Highlighting the strategic significance of such projects, the governor outlined forthcoming infrastructural endeavours, including the Ilaro-Owode road and the ambitious Gateway International Cargo Airport at Ilisan These initiatives underscore the administration’s holistic approach to infrastructure development, aiming to create robust transportation networks and foster economic vibrancy.

Governor Abiodun also listed several other roads that have been attended to in Ogun Central Senatorial District, including Obantoko, Gbonogun, Ikorita Meje-Aderinde-Olokotutu, Olomore-Sanni, Somorin-Kemta-Idi-Aba, Panseke-Adigbe, and Olusegun Osoba-Toyin-Agbado He pledged that more roads would soon be put in good shape, highlighting the comprehensive nature of the state’s infrastructural agenda.

Despite facing challenges such as project delays due to fluctuating construction material prices, Governor Abiodun assured that construction activities would resume promptly as conditions stabilize. He called upon the public to take pride and responsibility in safeguarding these communal assets, recognizing them as products of taxpayers’ contributions.

The commissioning event was attended by a host of dignitaries, including Kwara State Governor Abdulrahaman Abdulrasak, who commended Ogun State’s infrastructural strides and urged other states to emulate its proactive approach in delivering essential infrastructure for citizen welfare. Governor Abdulrasak’s presence underscored the solidarity among Nigerian governors in fostering regional development and cooperation.

Also in attendance was Senator Shuaib Afolabi Salis, representing Ogun Central Senatorial District, who praised Governor Abiodun for prioritizing infrastructural projects like the Siun-Owode road. Senator Salis highlighted the road’s significance to local communities and expressed gratitude for the governor’s unwavering commitment to fulfilling developmental promises.

The event witnessed the presence of Chief Yemi Sanusi, the state chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), who described the Siun-Owode road as historic to the Egba people. Chief Sanusi emphasized its crucial role in connecting various communities and driving commercial activities along the route.

In his welcome address, Commissioner for Works and Infrastructure, Engr. Ade Akinsanya detailed the extensive efforts undertaken to reconstruct the Siun-Owode road, adhering to federal government specifications for highways and incorporating standard drainage systems to enhance durability and functionality.

Furthermore, the commissioning ceremony saw the participation of Ogun State Deputy Governor, Engr. Noimot Salako Oyedele, members of the Ogun State House of Assembly, traditional rulers, party stalwarts, and other distinguished guests. Their collective presence underscored a shared commitment to advancing infrastructural development, stimulating economic growth, and enhancing the overall quality of life for residents across Ogun State.
