The newly appointed Governor’s Local Government Liaison Officers by Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun, has inaugurated the first executives members after her general meeting, Tuesday, September 7, 2022.
The committee was chaired by Hon. Gbenga Baruwa, GLO, Sagamu at the Conference Hall, Adesba Hotel, Abeokuta, Ogun State.
Alhaji Semiu Bola Lawal (Odeda LG), was appointed as the Chairman of the Government Liaison Officers Executive Committee while Hon. Adebayo Adebola
Adekoya of ljebu North LG is the Secretary.
Omo’ba Abiola Ogundeko as Public Relations Officer, (Remo North LG), Chief Akeem Adenle Obanla is the Treasurer (Yewa South LG) and Tpl. Oluwasegun Odunnola is appointed the Financial Secretary (ljebu North East LG.).
Others include Dr. Wale Bello (Abeokuta North LG), who will serve as the Welfare office and Hon. Abiola Bakare from Ado-Odo/Ota as the Organising Secretary of the Committee.
A cursory appraisal of the appointment indicated that all the appointees, carefully selected, were real grassroot politicians whose past records clearly reflected in the polity of the state, as well as their respective community they represented.
The appointment of the Government’s Liaison Officers (GLOs) executive members was targeted at improving the Local Government’s administration, as well as bringing governance closer to the people at the grassroots levels and to serve as a feedback mechanism through a two-way communication process between the government and the people.
The government liaison officers also have a duty to work closely with their council bosses by championing the course of development at the local communities and ensure that the people get the dividends of democracy.
Governor Dapo Abiodun while inaugurating the 20 20 Liaison Officers for all the local government councils of the state enjoined them to justify the confidence reposed in them by demonstrating the ability to ride above situations and challenges while also remaining loyal to the cause of serving humanity.
