Kwam 1 To Be On Band Stand As Committee Unveils Activities Marking Oloja Ekun Of Igbesa’s 3-Month Coronation Anniversary

 

The Oloja Ekun’s Coronation Planning Committee has unveiled activities to mark the monarch’s three month coronation anniversary.

Chairman, Central planning committee, Professor Adeyemi Bamgbose, MNSAP, MASAN, AAS, while briefing Newsmen during a press conference at the palace of Oloja Ekun of Igbesa land, HRM Oba Abdulazeez Oluwatoyin Akinde on Wednesday, said that ‘all is set for the three month coronation anniversary of Oloja Ekun and that the committee is ready to host a befitting event for the Kabiesi and the entire people of Igbesa land commencing from 27th of November till Saturday, 4th of December, which is the grand finale.


Professor Bamgbose, briefing Newsmen about the historical background of Igbesa and the activities lined up for the celebration of Oloja Ekun’s three month coronation anniversary, described the town as a ‘land of peace, home of enduring cultural heritage, a growing investment and wealth creation haven’. He said that the ancient Awori town, Igbesa land, ‘is an array of well educated and exposed erudite sons and daughters, who hold prominent positions in political, public and private sectors of Ogun state, Nigeria and in diaspora’.

He said that HRM Oba Abdulazeez Oluwatoyin Akinde has been on three month seclusion since he got staff of office from the Ogun state government as the 12th Oloja Ekun of Igbesa land, succeeding the late Oba Samuel Olusola Banuso, who joined his ancestors in 2015 and that Saturday, November, 27 will be the commencement of the week long activity.

In an interview with Newsmen shortly after the press briefing, Professor Bamgbose said that his committee has put all measures in place to host the august event. While also assuring indigenes, residents, tourists, invited guests, corporate organizations and government functionaries; who would be attending the event of adequate security of lives and properties before, during and after the event as they have extended invitations to law enforcement agencies and traffic regulatory bodies alike in order to ensure smooth flow of traffic. He stressed further that Fuji Maestro, Alhaji Wasiu Ayinde Marshal (Kwam 1) would mount the band stage to thrill invited guests.

Two time Commissioner in Lagos state and the Asiwaju of Igbesa land, who also doubles as Awori Welfare Association Chairman, Chief Muhammed Olagbayi, while fielding questions from Newsmen shortly after the Committee Secretary and APC Secretary in Ado-Odo/Ota Local Government, Hon. Jimoh Akeran unveiled the official photograph of Oloja Ekun of Igbesa land, said that the monarch chooses to celebrate three months coronation anniversary as against the regular one year and other landmarks which is a common practice among royal fathers because the official presentation of staff of office to the Oba was ‘extemporaneously done and that the three month anniversary will mark the ascension of Oba Akinde on the throne of his forebears’.

He thanked indigenes, residents and corporate organizations in Igbesa land and beyond who have in a way or the other, taken part in the coronation anniversary celebration, while also urging the sons and daughters of Igbesa land who are in the diaspora to contribute their own quota towards the development of the town as palace construction project as well as other viable projects have been outlined to be initiated as part of activities marking the three month coronation of Oloja Ekun.

The event was well attended by members of Oloja Ekun in Council, some of whom were; High Chief M.K Akapo, the Ajana of Igbesa, High Chief M.A Dada, the Ojomo of Igbesa, Chief Michael Akinogun, among several others.
